About the Museum
The Tampa Museum of Art opened its new home on February 6, 2010. Designed by architect Stanley Saitowitz, the building now known as the Cornelia Corbett Center, is a 66,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art showplace for the museum’s important holdings in Greek and Roman antiquities and contemporary photography and a growing interest in new media.
The new home also allows the museum to host important traveling exhibitions from around the world. The partnership with Mise en Place restaurant has resulted in Sono Café, Tampa’s first slow food movement dining option. The museum is open seven days a week at 11 am.
Support for the museum comes from individual donors, members, civic-minded corporations and the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and the State of Florida. The museum would love it if you would consider adding your name to the list of supporters.
Welcome
The Tampa Museum of Art is glad you decided to take some time out of your day to stop by. Most museums tell you what you can’t do. The museum thought instead to give you suggestions on what to do.
So, here are some ideas to make your visit remarkable:
Gaze upward and see what 800 lbs suspended 30 ft off the ground looks like.
Sit on our benches. Thanks Fowler White Boggs P.A.
Tour the galleries on your cell phone.
Experiment with a Panini in Sono Café.
Buy an imported magazine in the store.
Host an event here for few or many.
Enjoy the art with your eyes but not with your camera.
Surf the Web on our free WiFi. Thanks Verizon.
Check out what else we do at www.tampamuseum.org.
Ask a staffer a really difficult question (and not the one about how many holes are in the building-that’s too easy).
Commit to getting involved.
Agree to meet the artists halfway.
Add to the list of remarkable things to do at the museum.
Tell a friend you’re not in Kansas anymore.
And please, please, be curious. (Source Tampa Museum of Art)
